Marietta Man Allowed To Return Home After Years in Behavioral Health Center

(Marietta, OH) – A Marietta man who was found not guilty of reason by insanity in 2014 for the attempted murder of a police officer was granted the ability to return home with a number of conditions yesterday in the the Washington County Common Pleas Court.
 
William Ransom has been a patient of the Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare Center in Athens since April of 2014. He is currently only allowed to leave the hospital grounds with supervision, and will be allowed to move home to Marietta after a ruling by Common Pleas Judge Ed Lane.
 
Ransom was found not guilty in 2014 by reason of insanity and was sent to the center for a maximum of 11 years.
 
He will be able to live at home without professional supervision but will be required to report to counselors on a regular basis.
