(Marietta, OH) – The Peoples Bank Theatre has been holding amazing shows and concerts since their grand opening. One scheduled for this weekend is guaranteed to be a great time. Comedian Paula Poundstone will be doing stand-up on Saturday the 13th.

Poundstone started doing stand up 32 years ago when she climbed on a Greyhound bus and traveled across the country. She's now a household name.

We had a chance to talk with Poundstone about her upcoming show at the Peoples Bank Theatre. She told us she had heard it was recently renovated, and had this to say about having a place like the Peoples Bank Theatre in the community.

"It's great for a community to have a place like that where people get to put a date on the calendar to go see something. In our lives, with my kids, I was often gone at least a night or two a week. One of the ways you get through the homework, and the travel, and the this and the that is to say 'hey we're going to go see the blah blah blah such and such a night' and put that up there on the calendar and have that to look forward to. I really think it's such an important thing for a community to have."

We also spoke with Poundstone about her role in the Disney Pixar movie Inside Out.

"I consider myself the luckiest performer in the world one way or the other. But that was just an additional chapter in my lucky performer book because they contacted me, and it's a very small part, and I am one of the inside the brain workers on the eleven year-old girl. I am one of the forgetters."

The last thing we asked Poundstone was where her favorite place is to perform. She had this to say.

"Honestly, I know this is going to sound really cheesy, but there's people who come out to see me for a night of laughter and it doesn't matter where it is. I honestly can't think... this last year I worked ninety-something dates. Every single one of them was a hoot and a romp, and it really has to do not so much with me, honestly, as with the people in the room."

You can see Paula Poundstone this weekend at the Peoples Bank Theatre. Tickets can be bought on their website PeoplesBankTheatre.com or at the box office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, or by calling (740) 371-5152.
