"Dancing with the Docs" is coming to Marietta Saturday, and participating doctors are busy practicing their fancy foot work for a great cause.

The proceeds from the inaugural "Dancing with the Docs" event, co-sponsored by McDonalds of Marietta and Zk Fitness, will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Dr. John Frye, of Frye Dental Group in Marietta, said he decided to participate in the event because the charity provides important resources to families who need them most. He said he and his dance partner Lyndsay Biehl, human resources manager for Eye Care Associates and owner of Lyndsay Biehl Landscape and Design, have been gearing up for the big day.

All the hard work and preparation are paying off. Laurie Strahler, franchise owner of the Marietta McDonalds, said that the fundraising effort is going extremely well, and that the outpouring of community support has brought their $25,000 goal within reach.

Organizers say participating doctors have been training with skilled instructors and will perform a variety of dances at the event including the Waltz, Cha Cha and Jitterbug, among others.

The competition is already in full swing, and you can vote for your favorite doctor online at charlestonrmhc.org with a donation of your choice.

Tickets are extremely limited but are still available at peoplesbanktheatre.com.
