MARIETTA, Ohio (May 25, 2016) - As we head into Memorial Day weekend, millions of Americans will honor service personnel who have passed away. While we quickly remember those who have served in the past century, we should never forget those who fought for our independence in the Revolutionary War.

These patriots of the Revolutionary War will be remembered Thursday morning at the Mound Cemetery where the Marietta Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution Society will be holding a memorial service.

Many people from this area are aware that Marietta was the first settlement of the Northwest Territory, but what some may not realize is that the Mound Cemetery is the resting place for the most Revolutionary War officers in the entire nation.

This special memorial service begins at 10 a.m. For more information, contact the Marietta Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution Society at 740-697-0194.
