(Columbus, OH) -- A Marietta accounting firm has been awarded an Ohio Historic Preservation tax credit to help rehabilitate a downtown building into its new office.

The Ohio Development Services Agency has awarded a $250,000 tax credit to Perry and Associates to rehab the former Wilderman Ford dealership on Second Street into their new office. The project is expected to cost about $2 million to complete.

After housing several retail tenants, the building has sat vacant for more than 20 years.

The award is one of 26 that were given out across Ohio, totaling nearly $28 million. State officials say the projects are expected to leverage more than $260 million in private investments in 14 communities across the state.

Developers will not receive the tax credits until the projects are completed and have met all program requirements.
