WATERFORD, Ohio (August 25, 2016) - The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, in partnership with Prevent Suicide West Virginia, will host an important training workshop next week with a noble goal – save lives and provide resources for others to do the same.

SafeTALK is a training that prepares older teens and adults to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to available emotional help and first aid resources. There will be two workshops presented Monday, August 29 – one from 1-4 p.m. and another from 6-9 p.m. The sessions are completely free of charge and will be held at The Rock Church, located on Ohio State Route 339 in Waterford.

Organizer LeeAnn Price said, although it is a serious and often sensitive subject for parents to raise with their kids, teenagers educated about suicide are often the first to recognize red flags in their peers.

Space for Monday's SafeTALK workshops is limited, and reservations are required. Participants should be at least 15 years old. The event is free to the public. For more information, or to register, please call Michelle Toman at (304) 266-7683 or Leeann Price at (740) 350-3365.
