MARIETTA, Ohio (September 22, 2016) - The Theatre at Marietta College is excited to kick off its 2016-17 season in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Hermann Fine Arts Center. The department is offering a season of dramatic and comedic plays that examine the ways personal relationships are defined and shaped by death and tragedy.

Theatre Director and Associate Professor Andy Felt says the emphasis is not on a particular theme this season. Instead, the program accepted submissions from student and faculty directors, showcasing works they felt strongly about producing.

The program kicks off this weekend with Gideon's Knot by Johnna Adams, with performances at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday at Marietta College's Studio Theater. The 90-minute play, directed by Tara Clinton, explores school violence, bullying, and the challenges facing our public school system.

Studio Theater tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $4 for students. Marietta College students and employees may attend free of charge.
