MARIETTA, Ohio (November 30, 2016) - Although many people are looking forward to the Christmas season, some local families are struggling with tragedy this holiday season.

Suicide can affect any family and is a leading cause of death for young people. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS and pneumonia, combined.

This year, in support of struggling families and friends across the Mid-Ohio Valley, a candlelight vigil will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, at Muskingum Park, to remember those lost to suicide.

The event is free of charge, and members of the community are encouraged to attend.
