The January installment of the Historic Preservation Series will be presented tonight by The Castle of Marietta and Marietta Main Street, with the goal of sharing the history of Marietta and why it's up to the community to save it.

Tonight's presentation will be, 'Building Codes for Non-Architects,' hosted by Brent Foley of Columbus-based TRIAD Architects.  The event will be held from 6:15 to 7 p.m. at The Castle, located on Fourth Street in Marietta.

Event organizers say historic preservation is important, not just in theory but in application. Information will be shared on building codes for commercial and residential properties. Even better, you need not be an architect or a lawyer to make sense of it all!

The historic preservation series is a monthly series from October to May that brings experts from across the state of Ohio and the Mid-Ohio Valley together to discuss topics as they relate to our history, historic preservation and renovation, as well as rehabilitation of historic properties.

This series is free and open to the public; however, a voluntary donation of $10 is suggested to support the historic preservation efforts of The Castle and Marietta Main Street.
