According to officials with the Wayne National Forest, the Haught Run Campground, located along the Little Muskingum River in Washington County, will be permanently closed to the interest of public safety.
U.S. Forest Service officials say the campground continues to be impacted by extensive bank erosion along a curve in the LIttle Muskingum River.
The Campground has been closed since an emergency closure order was issued in 2014 but officials say people are still using the campground, despite public safety concerns.
Officials remind those who love the outdoors that there are several other camping opportunities on the Wayne National Forest's Marietta Unit, including Hune Bridge, Ring Mill, Lane Farm, and Lamping Homestead Campgrounds.
