High Speed Chase Ends in Meigs County

Reports from this morning say a multi-county high speed chase came to an end in Meigs County.
 
The report states that the chase began in Wood County with police chasing a reportedly stolen vehicle on 19th street in Parkersburg.  The vehicle was chased across the river into Ohio where Marietta Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Belpre Police and others took part in the chase. 
 
While traveling on RT 7 the vehicle reportedly crossed into Meigs County where the Meigs County Sheriff joined the efforts. 
 
The vehicle was allegedly being driven toward Athens but turned around and headed toward Tuppers Plains.
 
According to the report, spike strips were used in an attempt to stop the suspect but were unsuccessful.
 
A Sheriff's cruiser was stationed just below Eastern Local Schools, when the suspect noticed the cruiser he allegedly turned into the parking lot of the school, crashed through a fence, jumped out of the vehicle, laid on the ground and was taken into custody.
 
The suspect was identified as Jason Austin.  Austin was reportedly taken into custody on a nationwide warrant out of Fairfield County, as well as many new charges associated with the chase.

High Speed Chase Ends in Meigs County

According to reports, a high speed chase that began in Wood County, came to a stop in Meigs County and one is in custody.
