The Arbor Day Foundation in Nebraska has named Marietta "Tree City USA" in honor of our commitment to effective urban forest management.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a million member nonprofit conservation and education organization and their mission is to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.

WMOA News spoke with Arbor Day Foundation representative Danny Cohn who told us that there is quite a few requirements that our town had to meet before the designation was handed over.

  • Have a tree department
  • Have a tree care ordinance
  • Have a Community Foresty Program
  • Observe Arbor Day
We did it!  Good job trees.
