The City of Marietta Fire Department will begin flushing hydrants in Marietta on Monday.  This is necessary to keep water mains clear of accumulated mineral deposits that build up over a period of time.  The report also says that it provides valuable information such as flow rates and to fight fires and maintenance problems that we might not be aware of at this point.

it will take quit a long time for all of the hydrants to be flushed around the city.  Once one section of the city is finished, the department will then move onto the next part of the system and notify the public in advance.

The department has reminded residents to remain alert when driving as there could be flushed water on the roadway.

After the flushing is completed, customers may experience brown or milky water and they are asked to flush their lines for several minutes.

The first section of the city includes, but is not limited to: Washington County Fairgrounds, Front Street to Tehtn Streets North of Washington, Sacra Via, Montgomery and Warren Streets.
