Don't Fuel the Fire

The Tree Care Industry Association has recently announced a proclamation calling on various communities around the country to take their part in preventing fires. In recent years, nearly every state has experienced fire that rage out of control across the country, with the largest and most devastating burns occuring throughout the West. However, they can also spread across the East and South, where suburb meets country and housing meets conservation land.

Homeowners can protect their properties by designing and maintaining landscapes that discourage fires with flame-resistant materials, as dead trees, shrubs and grass can add fuel to a seemingly small fire. So these should be removed from your home's roof of gutter as soon as possible. Also, if you have plants growing around your home, make sure they get plenty of water and sunshine as a healthier tree is more likely to survive a fire. And if you don't feel confident in your ability to accomplish these tasks, then calling a professional arborist to assess the landscape of your property is the best bet.
