On October 13th, Washington State Community College held the inauguration ceremony of the College's seventh president, Dr. Vicky Wood at the Graham Auditorium.

Our station's manager Johnny Wharff attended this inauguration and got to personally ask Dr. Wood some questions about some of the things she's gotten into during her first month in charge.

"It's been wonderful. I've walked into a college that is established. I have a wonderful faculty and staff who are willing to make changes and look at where we can go in the future so that we can have a positive impact on students, the college, and the community."

Dr. Vicky Woods also talk about her Aspen Fellowship as well as some of the plans she has for Washington State going forward.

"As a member of the Aspen Fellowship, it is an organization that you apply to be in part of the Aspen Presidential Fellowship. They select forty community college leaders from across the United States, and we do an extensive study together for a year. We go away for three different weeks where we're focusing on policy, structure and best practices that will impact the mission of the two-year colleges. So I'm honored to be part of that, studying with higher education leaders from thirty-two different states. And the practices that we're developing, policies that we're setting, I'll be able to bring back to Washington State to help strengthen our service to students."
