The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) in Aliso Viejo, California, recently conferred a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence on Marietta Memorial Hospital.

WMOA News recently spoke with Marietta Memorial Hospital's Director of Marketing Sarah Holt about just what the award is.

"We received the silver (award) and they based that off of just certain measures they look at in providing critical care. We were one of four intensive care units in the state of Ohio to receive recognition and the only one in this immediate area in the Mid-Ohio Valley."

Holt also told us about the criteria that the hospital has followed in order to earn this award.

"They look at leadership, appropriate staffing, engaging our staff, effective communication, using and putting into practice evidence-based processes, and then measuring our outcomes. So this just means that we're providing exceptional patient care and having a healthy work environment."

AACN President Christine Schulman applauds the commitment of Marietta Memorial Hospital's caregiver's for working together to meet and exceed the high standards set forth by the Beacon Award for Excellence. These dedicated healthcare professionals join other members of an exceptional community of nurses, who set the standard for optimal patient care.
