That’s why the NWS forecast office in Charleston conducts a series of spotter classes every spring.

 

The first such class locally in several years will take place Tuesday (Mar. 13) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in downtown Parkersburg at the Wood county Courthouse Judge Black Judicial Annex, 331 Market Street - directly across Market Street from the Blennerhassett Hotel. There’s plenty of free evening parking around City Hall and the Courthouse.

 

Participants in Tuesday’s two-hour class will become certified weather spotters. There are no requirements or costs involved; only an interest in weather and a willingness to share what your observartions with those who work 24/7 to keep the public safe and informed.
