Waite says that at that point, the officers advised Jason
Carpenter he was under arrest and to put his hands behind his back, to which he
replied he was not under arrest, assumed a fighting stance, and attacked
the officers, who took him to the ground. Carpenter continued to fight until he
was handcuffed.
According to Waite, the officers’ injuries did not
appear to be serious.
Jason Carpenter was charged with resisting arrest and
disorderly conduct by fighting, and was later released on personal recognizance bond.
