Two Thousand Gallons of Used Cooking Oil Spills, Blocks Glendale Road

What a mess.
A tractor-trailer containing 2200 gallons of used cooking
oil overturned late this morning on Glendale Road.
Marietta Police say Glendale
Road will remain shut down between Sherry Drive and Grant Edwards Drive for 2-3
hours (until 1 or 2 p.m.).
Since there are no connector streets to-and-from that area of Glendale Road, for practical purposes motorists should avoid the entire section between Colegate Drive and Stanleyville Road.
Shortly after police and firefighters arrived at the scene,
they called for the street department to bring truckloads of sand and a backhoe
to build a containment pond.
A large wrecker arrived at the scene at
11 a.m., but even after the rig is removed, Police Captain Jeff Waite says it
will take at least two hours to clean up the grease.
