Shamrock 5K Run Benefits Women with Cancer, Their Families in a Unique Way

The 32nd annual Shamrock Classic 5K Run & Walk for Cancer takes place on Saturday (Mar. 16). All proceeds stay in the community with the Leslie Frye Living With Cancer Fund.
Organizer and local dentist Bret Frye explains that the purpose of the fund is to help women and their families in a unique way.
“For women with cancer, we are helping them and their families to go on vacation. This allows a woman going through chemotherapy, going through radiation and other cancer treatment to be with their family and create a memory away from cancer. The family can put a mark on the calendar and say ‘on that date, we will get away from the cancer and go somewhere and create a great memory.’”
Dr. Frye says, “The race starts at the Hermann Fine Arts Center on the Marietta College campus between Fourth and Seventh on Butler Street. It’s an 8:30 (a.m.) shotgun start.
"If you go to FryeDental.com you can get a race application and more information, or just come out that morning. The Fine Arts Center will be open to take applications from 7:30 till about 8:30. There are t-shirts available to all who are pre-registered.
"It’s a good time. It’s light-hearted. We have a nice race course. We always have some excellent runners. We'll have music and food. Everyone's welcome.”
