Organizer and local dentist Bret Frye explains that
the purpose of the fund is to help women and their families in a unique way.
“For women with cancer, we are helping them and their
families to go on vacation. This allows a woman going through chemotherapy,
going through radiation and other cancer treatment to be with their family and
create a memory away from cancer. The family can put a mark on the calendar and
say ‘on that date, we will get away from the cancer and go somewhere and create
a great memory.’”
Dr. Frye says, “The race starts at the Hermann Fine Arts
Center on the Marietta College campus between Fourth and Seventh on Butler
Street. It’s an 8:30 (a.m.) shotgun start.
"If you go to
FryeDental.com you can
get a race application and more information, or just come out that morning. The Fine Arts Center will be
open to take applications from 7:30 till about 8:30. There are t-shirts
available to all who are pre-registered.
"It’s a good time. It’s light-hearted. We have a nice race
course. We always have some excellent runners. We'll have music and food. Everyone's welcome.”
