The building that has hosted the River City Farmer’s Market at the Washington County Fairgrounds is a total loss today after a fire that gutted the building.
The building was also the poultry building during the Washington County Fair.
Marietta Fire Chief C. W. Durham says  “we received the initial call from the police department just before 6:30 this morning.  Our first engine arrived to find the building nearly fully involved."
Durham says it took approximately a half hour for the main part of the fire to be extinguished.  The Devola Volunteeer Fire Department and the Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The city fire investigator and the state fire marshal’s office are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Durham says there were no animals in the building, but all the property of the Farmer’s Market was completely lost.
