The planned closure of Fort Harmar Drive (State Route 7) in Marietta took place at 7:15 this (Monday) morning, as CSX begins the three-day job of rebuilding its badly deteriorated crossing, located just west of the Washington Street Bridge across the Muskingum River.
The bridge itself remains open, with access to and from Gilman Avenue.
An in-town detour for cars and small trucks has been established. Southbound to use Gilman Av to Putnam Av, Franklin St and Virginia St to Route 7. Northbound traffic on Route 7 should exit at Virginia St.
The official ODOT detour for truckers and travelers is Interstate 77 and the US 50 Parkersburg-Belpre bypass.
