'Hope for Holidays' Event to Celebrate Area's Tissue & Organ Donors, Recipients

Memorial Health System is partnering with Lifeline of Ohio to provide a “Hope for the Holidays” event this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Strecker Conference Room at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
"'Hope for the Holidays' is a program that Lifeline of Ohio, Marietta Memorial Hospital and Selby General Hospital have brought together to offer organ and tissue donor families and recipients from southeastern Ohio and West Virginia to come together during the holidays; to have some time together for remembrance and to enjoy the season,”   Memorial’s public relations director, Jennifer Offenberger, explains.

Anyone who has considered becoming an organ donor is welcome to come to Thursday’s get-together.
“If you’re welcome in organ or tissue donation, you are certainly welcomed to attend this event, as well,” Offenberger says. “We want people who live in the region to come in and talk with each other, learn from each other, support each other. We’ll have ornaments you can decorate in remembrance of someone, and we’ll hang those on a holiday tree here at Marietta Memorial.”
“Each year, the number of people who attend grows,” she adds. “They just find it a great time to reconnect.”
Please consider becoming a donor. Every day in Ohio, men, women and children die while waiting for an organ transplant. Every 10 minutes, another person is added to the national waiting list for organ donation.
