Winter Storm Likely Sunday & Monday
Posted on: 02/28/2014
By  Mike Cullums
Most of Ohio and West Virginia are under a Winter Storm Watch starting on Sunday afternoon and running until late Monday afternoon. It is likely to be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.
As of this (Fri.) afternoon, the latest information from the National Weather Service forecast office in Charleston is predicting severe winter weather for the Marietta area, with a swath from Athens to Clarksburg expected to see significant ice accumulation on Sunday afternoon and evening, to be followed by several inches of snow overnight and during the day Monday.
The forecast model indicates that from .25 to .5 inch of ice and 5 to 9 inches of snow are possible in the Athens-Marietta-Parkersburg-Clarksburg corridor. These estimates are preliminary and could change substantially by Sunday.
Power outages are possible Sunday and Monday, and travel could become very difficult. Stay tuned to WMOA, WJAW and other media for the latest information as this potentially dangerous winter storm develops.
