Hereís important news for area residents who may be struggling to pay this winterís large heating bills.

Washington-Morgan Community Action says the application deadline for the Home Energy Assistance Programís Winter Crisis Program has been extended to April 15. The extension will allow eligible Ohioans who have not already received a Winter Crisis benefit more time to apply.

Applications will be taken in Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM at 218 Putnam Street in Marietta or 50 Third Street in Malta.

The maximum income to receive one-time help with emergency heating are 175 percent on the federal poverty guideline. For example, a family of four can make up $41,212 and qualify for a Winter Crisis Program benefit.

T he purpose of the program is to ensure that no household in an emergency situation goes without heat.
