Safetytown Scholarships Awarded to MHS Seniors

Six Marietta High School seniors have been awarded $500 scholarships from the Samuel R. Cook Safetytown Trust. MHS seniors who have worked as teachers' aides at Safetytown for three or more years are eligible to apply.
 
This year's winners are:
 
John Forshey, son of Brad and Ruth Forshey, has volunteered for three years at both morning and afternoon sessions. He has been accepted at Marietta College and plans to become an electrical engineer specializing in computer engineering.
 
Jamie Dye, daughter of Russ and Michele Dye, has served as a Safetytown volunteer for six years. She will attend Washington State Community College and hopes to open her own bakery.
 
Krissy Sutton, daughter of William and Denise Sutton, has been accepted at Ohio Northern, Walsh and Marietta College. She plans to become a lawyer. She has volunteered at Safetytown for three years.
 
Sarah Booth, daughter of Mark and Tonya Booth, has been a volunteer for four years. She has been accepted at The Ohio State University in pre-med. She hopes to enter the summer intern program at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
 
Megan McCutcheon, daughter of Leslie and Nina McCutcheon, has volunteered at Safetytown for seven years. She will attend Washington State Community College and plans to become an elementary teacher.
 
Lindsey Kerr, daughter of Gary and Angie Kerr, has been a volunteer for six years. In the fall of 2008 she will begin the pre-law program at The Ohio State University.
