Lane Closures Expected on Putnam St. Bridge
Posted on: 05/12/2008
By  Callie Lyons

Traffic in Marietta is going to get tricky for a couple of days next week.

For two days next week, curbside lanes on the Putnam Street bridge will be closed down for inspection, narrowing traffic to one lane. The lane closures will facilitate the usage of a snooper truck to inspect the underside of the bridge close up.

County engineer Bob Badger says this year’s inspection is particularly important because the bridge will be carrying substantially more traffic in 2009 when the Washington Street Bridge is scheduled for reconstruction.

The inspection will cost $22,900 plus the rental of equipment. It’s being funded by the one percent permissive sales tax for roads and bridges
