Marietta College is looking for a new chief of police following Howard Korn's resignation yesterday.

College President Dr. Jean Scott said she will form a search committee to conduct an immediate national search. She hopes to have a new chief on campus by the time fall classes begin on Aug. 25.

As chief of police, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing all activities related to Marietta College’s law enforcement and safety, including uniform patrol leadership, education and outreach programs, community based crime prevention, accreditation, emergency planning and recovery, victim assistance and parking enforcement on a campus that serves nearly 1,500 students. The candidate also will be responsible for directing security at all major events, such as sporting events and concerts.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of the nine-member department that operates 24 hours a day year round.
