The ARC reauthorization bill is headed to the president's desk for a signature.
Passed by voice vote on Tuesday by the House of Representatives, this legislation will authorize $65 million over five years for the Economic and Energy Development Initiative, a plan to promote alternative energy jobs and research in the region.
The Appalachian Regional Development Act of 2008, reauthorizes the Appalachian Regional Commission for the next 5 years. The bill authorizes $510 million in discretionary spending for the ARC.
The ARC reauthorization has already passed the Senate.
