A suspect was taken into custody around 5 pm Tuesday after officials say he stabbed his former girlfriend in front of her parent's home in New Matamoras.
19 year old Thaddeus Salomon lived with the victim in her parents' home, but recently she asked him to move out. Shortly after the two returned home from work after midnight, the victim's father said the couple was speaking outside when he heard his daughter scream for help.
He found her on the ground with a puncture wound to her back.
23 year old Susan Lawson was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment, but had to be life-flighted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus because her left lung was punctured by the stabbing.
Lawson told authorities that Thaddeus asked her for a hug and told her he had a surprise for her. While hugging him, she felt a sharp sting in her left side and collapsed to the ground. Salomon fled on foot. He was captured in Pleasants County, West Virginia on Tuesday afternoon after an extensive manhunt.
