The State Fire Marshall’s office has ruled a Gallia County fire as accidental.

 

On Jan. 2, a 9 year old boy was injured in a blaze on Buck Ridge Road. Investigators say the most probably cause of the fire was combustible materials too close to an electric space heater. Other possible causes have been ruled out.

 

The boy was transferred to a Pittsburg hospital for treatment. Initial attempts to rescue the child were unsuccessful because of intense heat and flames, but Captain Brett Saxon of the Gallipolis Fire Department was able to make entry and remove the child.
