Women Accused of Leaving Babies Home Alone Scheduled for Pretrial

Two young women who are accused of leaving their babies at home and going out to a downtown bar are scheduled for a pretrial on July 13.

The court appointed attorneys for both of the women on Monday.

22 year old Ciara Cavallier and 22 year old Jacqueline Mc Graw were arrested early Sunday morning at the Locker Room after police found their three babies unattended. The children are nine months old, one year of age and three.

Jamie Vuksic, deputy assistant director of Washington County Children’s Services, said leaving young children home with no supervision is more of a neglect issue, but it is also grounds for removal. When that happens, he said the court schedules a hearing for the next business day to determine if the children should be returned home.

Vuksic said anyone who suspects abuse or neglect should call children’s services and make a report. Information can be left anonymously, but everything is kept confidential. There’s a 24 hour service and a worker is always on call. That number is 373-3485.
