SAR Documenting Patriot Headstones
Posted on: 07/02/2009
By  Callie Lyons
This week the members of the Marietta Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution are documenting the 37 Revolutionary War Patriot headstones in Mound Cemetery.

Each stone will be photographed and the inscriptions will be recorded.

The group is trying to record information on every patriot who served in the American revolution and who is buried in the Mid Ohio Valley. They are asking for the help of the public in locating documentation in Washington County.

Currently, there is a list of 153 patriots identified in the county, but there could be as many as 600.

If you know the location of a Revolutionary War Patriot - military or civilian - and would like to report it, feel free to submit a photograph or contact the group by calling 678-8060.
