State Highway Patrol investigating Fatal crash on SR 183

The Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a single vehicle, single occupant fatal crash which occurred on SR 183 at Virginia Road near mile post 1. The crash occurred in the early morning hours of June 20th.
According to the Patrol, Joshua D. Deck, 33 of Alliance, was driving a 1999 Dodge Stratus northbound on SR 183 when he drove off the right side of the roadway. Deck drove back onto the road, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole. Deck, who was not wearing a safety belt, was ejected from the vehicle. As the vehicle became engulfed in flames, a passerby and a Trooper pulled Deck from the immediate area to a safe location and administered CPR. Deck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"This is an absolute tragedy" stated Lt. Jeffrey Greene, OSHP Ravenna Post Commander. "Had Mr. Deck chose to properly apply his safety belt, the outcome may have been much different."
SR 183 was closed for 90 minutes. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
