Ohio lieutenant governor Jon Husted announced today that broadband Ohio has published a new mapping resource tool on their website. It shows how many of the state's household are connected to high-speed internet.  It also shows a clear picture of broadband availability gaps in the state.

At first glance Washington county and surrounding counties in each direction are detailed in red. This color represents the slowest internet speeds from 0-9 megabits per second. A closer look at the county shows more rural areas to the northern part of Washington county suffer the most. Marietta itself is detailed in green which is the highest speeds level available to us.

Records from a 15-month period were recorded and speed tests were performed to see how fast the internet was in certain areas. 4 different types of tests were done ranging from below 10 mbps to over 100 mbps.

Moving forward, lt. governor Husted and governor Mike DeWine will now look to expand broadband to areas that need it most.  The map released today will help pinpoint where the focus needs to be and where funding needs to go to speed up the connection.
