Marietta Welfare League Grant Lucheon
The Marietta Welfare League has held its annual grant luncheon. This year, the league awarded over$80,000 to 30 organizations in the Mid-Ohio Valley. We spoke with Marietta Welfare League President Cathy Rees, who discussed the organizations' receiving funds. The Welfare League has granted non-profit organizations funds for over thirty years. Most of the funds given come directly from the "League Shop" inside Marietta Memorial Shop. Rees talked about having an asset like the shop to help raise the funds. The Marietta Welfare League was created in 1926 and is looking to celebrate its 100th year of service in Washington County in 2026. As for whether there are any plans for year number 100, Rees just said this. " We haven't got it planned yet, but it'll definitely be a big event and we're really excited." The League is seeking new members who want to make a difference in the community. For more information on the group and how to become involved, please visit mariettawelfareleague.org.
