WMOA/WJAW Staff Pick "Ems Week 2 Week 1 of the Picks cam down to the wire on Monday night's game. It was a tied record between the WMOA/WJAW Listener and Brenda Padgitt our Office Manager. With Virginia Tech defeating Florida State, it was Brenda who took the week one honors with a 9-1 record. We would like to say thank you to our listeners for joining in on the action. Time to roll out the red carpet for week number two. I said last week, that I wanted to see Weber tear it up on the ground and boy did he. 186 rushing yards and 3 TD's. I was very pleased in his output as well as Dwayne Haskins at the QB spot. Haskins looked like a beast against the Beavers last week. Hopefully they keep it rolling all season long. Buckeyes win pretty easily here by at least 3 TD's. Hushion: Buckeyes over Rutgers by 40. Wenzel: Buckeyes defense redeems themselves. OSU Marshall: Since Rutgers has joined the B1g they've only scored about 10 points (maybe not even that many) against Ohio State football. The Defense will be better and the Buckeyes will once again win easily. NCAA Game #2 Youngstown St. @ WVU (Pregame on ESPN 630AM/92.9FM Saturday at 2:30pm) Hushion: The Mountaineers pluck the Penguins by 42. Marshall: We all know Will Grier is the real deal. WVU will bring too much heat for the Penguins. NCAA Game #3 Georgia @ South Carolina (Saturday at 3:30pm) Sunderman: Jake Fromm got the job done last year for Georgia, He'll continue to do it again this year. GO DAWGS! Hushion: Bulldogs fry the Gamecocks by 31. NCAA Game #4 Penn State @ Pitt (Saturday at 8pm) Sunderman: Wow! I'm not going to lie, it was kind of funny to watch Penn State struggle against Appalachian State. I believe they'll struggle the same amount against Pitt, but still be able to pull of the victory. PSU by squeaker. Hushion: Great game in Pittsburgh! Penn State by 10 points. Wenzel: Pitt with the upset! Marshall: Last week I was seriously considering purchasing an APP St. jersey as I watched them ALMOST upset Penn st. (I get very conflicted about wanting to see hilariously huge upsets over big ten foes and knowing the Big Ten needs to win those games) I HOPE for the sake of the Big Ten that was just week one jitters for the Nittany Lions and they'll come back this week and look like a James Franklin coached football team. NCAA Game #5 USC @ Stanford (Saturday at 8:30pm) Sunderman: There is no way that Stanford's Bryce Love is held to only 29 yards on the ground for a second straight week. Love gets back into the Heisman race after he goes over the century mark and a pair of touchdowns. Stanford wins by 2 scores. Hushion: Stanford tough at home...win by 17. Marshall: I'll take the fighting trees. NFL Game #1 Steelers @ Browns (Steelers Pregame on ESPN 630AM/92.9FM, Browns Pregame on ESPN 100.9FM Sunday at 11pm) Sunderman: I'm not saying I'm a Steelers fan and I despise the Browns.... wait, yes, that is exactly what I'm saying here. In reality, yes the Browns are a much better team this year than last. I like that they have Tyrod at quarterback. I just hope Browns fans realize that Taylor is a .500 level quarterback. There's nothing wrong with that, but somebody else is going to have to step up and help these Browns. The biggest bright spot for the Browns is TE David Njoku. Tyrod loves his tight ends, and this guy can straight up be the next Tony Gonzalez. Steelers still win. Hushion: I like the Brown to upset the Burgh by 6. Wenzel: Really wanna pick the Browns, but they aren't there yet. The other team. Marshall: Surely there has never been this much hype for an 0 - 16 team as there is for this years browns team. They've added a good bit offensive weaponry, and their defense wasn't that bad last year... on the other side of the ball all we've heard about is the guy that we all assume won't be playing... I'm taking the Steelers because I think they're the better team, but really I won't be surprised if they come out flat and Cleveland jumps on them early and Pittsburgh won't be able to recover. NFL Game #2 Bengals @ Colts (Pregame on WMOA 1490AM/101.3FM Sunday at 11:10pm) Sunderman: If it wouldn't had been for the Raiders being so Raideriffic the past week plus, I'd say the Bungles are one of the biggest train wrecks. On paper, the Bengals should not be a bad team, but how many years are you willing to say that? Colts. Hushion: Close game in Indy... Colts by a field goal. Wenzel: I think the Bengals are going to win a few games this year, including this one. Marshall: I Don't think either of these teams will be very good this year, but I think the Bengals defense, with the loss of talent from the off season could be a major factor. I'll take the Colts. NFL Game #3 Texans @ Patriots (Sunday 1pm) Sunderman: I hope the Tom Brady's lose. I hope the Tom Brady's lose. I hope the Tom Brady's lose..... I don't think it happens though..... Le sigh... Pat's.... (I shall go cry in the corner for that pick) Hushion: Texans upsets Brady by a field goal. Wenzel: I really wanna pick the Texans here, but they ain't there yet. The other team. Marshall: I'm not a Patriots fan, so that means I hate the Patriots. I'd really like to see the Texans win this one, but I think the New England coaching staff and that old man they have at QB will come in with a solid game plan and come away with a win. I'll begrudgingly take the pats. NFL Game #4 Cowboys @ Panthers (Sunday 4:25pm) Sunderman: I know preseason isn't really suppose to mean much, but wow! The Cowboys were atrocious. The spread is only 3 points for this match-up... Bwahaha. Panthers destroy the Cowboys. Hushion: Cam runs all over the Cowgirls. Panthers win by 14. Wenzel: Cowboys.... I guess. Marshall: I AM A cowboys fan. I had mildly high hopes for the Cowboys this year. I think the Dak and Zeke combo can be great, cutting Dez was a good move (The drama he brought wasn't worth his upside) but now the true strength of their team, the offensive line, has been ravaged by injury and illness, and a WR no. 1 has not really shown up. Not to mention the fact that the defense hasn't been that good in awhile and probably still won't be this year. BUT STILL... how Bout' dem cowboys. NFL Game # 5 Bears @ Packers (Sunday 8:20pm) Hushion: GB always beats Da Bears. Rodgers and the boys by 17. Wenzel: DA BEARS! Marshall: Khalil Mack is only one man. Packers.
