WMOA/WJAW Staff Pick 'Ems Week 3 With 2 weeks in the books, it's the WMOA/WJAW Listeners who have the overall lead after going 9-0-1 last week. Brenda and Andy are right behind them with one less win overall. Everyone did a pretty decent job last week with nobody having a losing record (including the Browns). The Cincinnati Bengals are not featured in this weeks picks due to them playing a Thursday night game, and due to Hurricane Florence canceling a few games this weekend, we will only be running 8 games instead of the usual 10. So, without further ado, Round 3, ding-ding. Ohio won't lay down, but even if they give it their all, it just won't be enough. Different levels of play in this matchup. Sorry Ohio. Marshall: I'll go with the popular line and take Virginia. They are favored by just 3.5 in what is essentially a neutral site game in Vanderbilt. That is a whole lot more neutral than say, playing Texas Christian University in Texas. NCAA Game#2 WVU @ NC State (CANCELLED) NCAA Game#3 LSU @ Auburn Sunderman: I don't want to go against Joe for the second straight time, but I'm going to. He needs some receiver help. Nick Brossette is looking good on the ground for LSU though. Auburn still wins. Marshall: Big SEC west matchup, should be a good one. In week one I picked against LSU and quickly regretted it. Joe Burrow is impressive. I very quickly found myself rooting against Miami (My pick) and pulling for the OSU transfer. Even though I dislike LSU VERY much... I'd like to see Burrow do well. NCAA Game#4 Marshall @ South Carolina (CANCELLED) NCAA Game#5 Ohio State @ TCU (6:30pm Pregame on WMOA AM1490/101.3FM and ESPN 100.9FM) Sunderman: The Buckeyes defense definitely redeemed themselves this past weekend against Rutgers only allowing 134 total yards and 3 points. Mike Weber exploded in week 1 rushing the ball and the Buckeyes rewarded him with 8 carries in week 2... wait... what?! I don't understand it. Who did Weber make angry? Le Sigh... Buckeyes win a tough one in Arlington as there offense will out perform the Horned Frogs. Marshall: Buckeye coaches have talked a lot about how good TCU's defense is, and I'm sure they've seen a lot more of it than I have but "A Good defense" means something TOTALLY different when comparing the big12 to the B1G. In the Big12 defense is like Brett Wharff looking at a speed limit sign... A mere suggestion. One concern could be that It'll be Haskins first start away from The Shoe, but don't forget we've already seen how much poise he has, against ttun no less, so I don't think he'll be bothered by Jerry world. I think we'll leave the townhouse as happy Buckeyes fans. NFL Game #1 Chiefs @ Steelers (11am Pregame on ESPN AM630/92.9FM) Sunderman: Luckily for the Steelers, the Chiefs secondary was gutted this offseason and isn't very well. .. If last week is any indication on how Ben plans on playing this year he may need this to help his game. Steelers! Marshall: I wrote a letter to Roger Goodell last week cause I watched the Steelers / Browns game and I would like those hours of my life back. The weather was terrible, but the Steelers, aside from James Conner, looked awful. I'll take the Chiefs. NFL Game#2 Browns @ Saints (11am Pregame on ESPN 100.9FM) Marshall: Again, looking back to last week, the Browns did some good things, but they committed an absurd amount of penalties showing a very undisciplined team. Benefited from 5(?) turnovers and still played to a tie. The Browns defense isn't that bad, so I'm interested to see how they go up against the high powered Saints, but I think the New Orleans Buckeyes take this one. NFL Game #3 Dolphins @ Jets Sunderman: Holy Crap! Did y'all see how well the Jets played this past week? It's got to be a fluke right? I'm going with a fluke... Yeah... definitely... maybe... hopefully... Fins Up! Marshall: This one is tough to judge by looking at what these teams did last week. Darnold is not going to look that good ever week, and Miami won't have to play through a long delay every week. I'll take the fish, because they have a run game (unlike Detroit) and will present a much more balanced, effective attack. Giants @ Cowboys Sunderman: The Cowboys/Panthers game this past week was the most boring game I've watched in a long time... it being on Fox didn't help. I took a nap at halftime, woke up about 2 mins into the 3rd and decided to finish my nap. Eli may be trying to cook up something special this year for the Giants. They could be a successful underdog again when the end of the season rolls around. G-MEN! Marshall: I'm always conflicted picking Cowboys games. I want them to win, and I want to win pickems but I'm a very pessimistic fan. I showed team loyalty last week and the offensive line, which has been the strength of the team for so long now looks dismal. The defense has been subpar for quite some time, and I'm worried about what might happen to them against the Penn State Phenom. I'll take the Giants and double regret it if the cowboys win. NFL Game #5 Seahawks @ Bears Sunderman: Russel Wilson is not Aaron Rodgers. Whose going to win the game? DA BEARS! Marshall: Da Bears!
