Akron Resident Arrested for Trafficking in Heroin at Marietta Motel
Contact was made with Shawn Gates Jr. and Taylor Parker inside the room. Gates reportedly did not comply with orders given by Officers and resisted arrest. A paper fold of white powder, suspected of being heroin, was located near where Gates was arrested. Baggies were located in Parker's purse along with money found in her waistband. Parker stated the money was hers, but she did not have an explanation of how she received it.
Shawn Allen Gates Jr., age 21, Akron, OH, was placed under arrest on 3 outstanding warrants, and trafficking in heroin, a 4th-degree felony. Upon arrival at the Washington County Jail, Gates admitted to swallowing an unknown item.
Taylor McKenna Parker, age 24, Akron, OH, was placed under arrest for possession of criminal proceeds, a 5th-degree felony. After arriving at the Washington County Jail, Parker reportedly surrendered a small bag containing suspected marijuana that she had concealed on her person.
Parker and Gates appeared in Marietta Municipal Court and Gates received a $7,500 bond, however, has no bond for the Summit County charges. Parker is under a $5,000 bond.

An investigation by Agents of the Ohio Organized Crimes Investigations Commission, Washington Morgan Noble Major Crimes Task Force resulted in two arrests yesterday.
