PARKERSBURG, WV- Due to a continued disregard for the traffic signals on the Memorial Bridge between Belpre and Parkersburg, increased police presence will be noticed on either side of the bridge.

The Parkersburg Police Department as well as the Belpre Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies are patrolling the area.

Parkersburg Bridge Partners say drivers continue to run the remote traffic lights at each end of the bridge resulting in safety hazards for not only the public but for the workers on the bridge. It is said by the Partners those violators will be ticketed.

Parkersburg Bridge Partners said in a recent Facebook post that the red lights on the bridge are indeed stop lights and by no means stop signs.

They remind motorists to not pull around other drivers that are stopped.

Recently the partners said when one runs a redlight and comes up on oncoming traffic in the opposite direction, it forces a stoppage of work on the bridge resulting in around a 30-minute delay of work.
