The Ohio Valley Opry will present an Award-Winning Bluegrass Band, Strings of Green, on February 21st. WMOA spoke with Deana Clark, one of the owners of the Ohio Valley Opry, about this event.

" The Ohio Valley Opry, which we have in our regular monthly show. The featured guest will be a band from West Virginia called Strings of Green. And uh, they, uh, they're a bluegrass band and it's a father with his son and just really great band. And they just recently won the prestigious Figma Bluegrass Band contest for 2026."

She said that Strings of Green will bring the bluegrass genre, but there will be others on the 21st as well.

"But also appearing that night will be our Ohio Valley Opry regulars, Mike Morrison, Beth Bigham, Dylan May, the Clark family, Matt Coleman, you know, uh, the Ohio Valley Opry staff band will be there."

Clark said this is the Ohio Valley Opry's 25th year, and they've been at their new location in Belpre for a year. The location is comfortable. 

"The acoustics at the, uh, Ohio Valley Opry Theater are, they're, they're fantastic. It's never gonna be uncomfortable to listen to. The seats are wide, the aisles are wide. The sound system is incredible, and, uh, it's just a music lover's dream."

This band is especially entertaining because they recently won the prestigious 2026 Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America competition in Nashville, TN.

"So this year, uh, the band, the Strings of Green actually won that contest and it's, it's highly competitive. So, uh, to win that contest, you've got to have some talent and, uh, these, these young folks do. And I think that, uh, the mid Ohio Valley would, uh, be missing out if you don't get a chance to come and hear this band while they're here in town in Belpre."
