Citizen's Bank Robbery Suspect Captured

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE
Marietta, Ohio- The Marietta Police Department responded to an armed Robbery at the Citizen's Bank branch on 2nd Street Thursday. A suspect entered the bank wearing a rubber disguise mask, stuffed his hand in a large satchel he was carrying, then forced his way behind the counter and emptied the teller drawers. After a search, William Edward "Billy White Shoes" Johnson, 55, LKA Lancaster, Ohio was found and arrested.
The MPD reports that Johnson was wanted in Ohio for a Parole Violation. Johnson was also wanted for the October 2017 robbery of the Williamstown Bank.
Johnson was also the suspect who robbed the same branch of the Citizen's Bank on January 16, 2002 during his stretch of three Washington County bank robberies that month. He was convicted in a plea agreement in November 2002 for a robbery in Barlow. With the assistance of Williamstown PD, Wood County Sheriff's Department, Parkersburg PD, and the West Virginia State Police, the suspect was found to be staying at a motel in West Virginia. WV authorities located him at a business in Parkersburg and took him into custody around 9:30 PM Thursday.
Items stolen from Citizen's Bank along with a substantial portion of the stolen cash were found in his possession and the black bag carried in the robbery was observed in his vehicle. Marietta Police Investigators will be working with West Virginia Law Enforcement and the FBI to obtain more evidence to solidify the criminal case and to identify any accomplices to this crime.
