UPDATE: Marietta City Schools will try it again.  Word from Superintendent Will Hampton Monday says they have reached the point where they believe it is prudent to lift the requirement for masks within the buildings.  This went into effect Monday at 3:30pm.

Hampton added that the decision is data-informed. The school system has been monitoring local health information alongside quarantine and infection rates both in the schools and in the community.

The system reminds everyone that the building policy does not lift the federal requirement for masks to be worn while riding the bus.  All students and staff on the buses will continue to wear masks until otherwise directed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Parents if you wish your student to wear a mask, you are asked to communicate this with your child's teachers by Monday via written notification or email.

Hampton thanked the staff, families and students for working together though the year to slow the spread of the virus.  He also thanked everyone for the patience and support.

ORIG: Marietta City Schools has lifted their indoor mask mandate within all their building effective last Friday. In a release shared with WMOA, Superintendent Will Hampton says the decision was data informed and they will continue to monitor local health information alongside quarantine and infection rates in the schools and community.

The change does not change the requirement of wearing a mask on busses which is a federal requirement. If you would like your child to still wear a facial covering this is allowed, they just ask these requests are communicated with your students and their teachers.
