AAA pothole warning
Mike Hoshaw is the vice president of automotive services at AAA East Central. He say it can cost more than one thousand dollars to fix problems like tire punctures and bent rims. Suspension damage is also an issue after hitting a pot hole.
The science behind pot holes is mostly a matter of moisture collecting in small holes and cracks in the road surface. It then expands and contracts when temperatures move around. The pavement then breaks. Combine that with passing cars and you get a pot hole.
Be sure to inspect your tires, keep your eyes on the road ahead and slow down. Puddles are also a big concern. Keep an eye out. No telling how deep those are. Keep an ear out for strange noises from your car. A hard pothole can impact and dislodge wheel weights, damage the wheel itself and even break components under your car. Any unusual noises after a pothole hit should be inspected immediately.
AAA is back warning about potholes and the toll they can take on your car and your wallet.
