The National Weather Service is putting a freeze warning on the area for tonight and into tomorrow morning. The warning will go into effect overnight at 2 am and last until 10am. Sub-freezing temperatures are expected to be as low as 29 tonight.

Take steps throughout the day today to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly. In ground sprinkler systems should be drained as well and above ground pipes need to be protected.

Low temperatures will be below the freezing point for the foreseeable future. Likely until the middle of next week. Taking steps now could be good practice for the much colder days and weeks that lie ahead this winter.
