(MARIETTA, OH) - The lunch trays are wearing down at the Washington County Jail, and now they're set to be tossed out.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says 400 lunch trays will be discarded and replaced.  Those trays have been used since 2004 and are starting to create health hazards.

Mincks says the trays have developed holes and are filling with water, and now have no monetary value. He says the Sheriff's Office has purchased a full complement of replacement trays and will now destroy the worthless ones.

Roughly 124 inmates are served meals three times a day at the jail.
