(MARIETTA, OH) - Washington County's annual audit for the fiscal year for 2014 has come back clean, and the audit manager is calling it the first error-free report he's seen in 30 years on the job.
The Ohio State Auditor's Office says the county's report includes no citations, no recommendations, no findings for recovery, and no instances of non-compliance with federal regulations.
In fact, the report was so clean, the state office didn't feel the need to do an exit interview.
Board of Commissioners President David White says the result is a testament to the diligent work going on in the county's various departments.
"The auditor is to be congratulated," White notes, "and all the other department heads, along with our office manager deserve thanks for doing such a great job and keeping us out of trouble."
Audit Manager Doug Heiss has been auditing county governments for almost three decades. He told the Board of Commissioner this is the first time in his tenure a county has ever submitted an error-free report.
