(Marietta, OH) -- The Mid-Ohio Valley is under an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms from now until 9 am tomorrow.

The Storm Prediction Center says a band of potentially severe storms will develop from just west of Columbus stretching back to areas northwest of Chicago. These storms could produce large hail and damaging winds in excess of 70 miles an hour.

As the storms move southeast and closer to our immediate area, the primary threat is expected to be damaging winds. The timing isn't certain, but forecasters expect the strongest storms to be in our area late this evening into the overnight hours.

No storm watches have been issued as of right now for our area. However, a Flash Flood Watch will be in effect from 11 pm tonight until 2 pm tomorrow.

Forecasters say the expected heavy rain and thunderstorms could cause streams to overflow their banks. Other places that are in poor drainage areas could also see high water on roads or property.

Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Stay tuned to WMOA for updated forecasts and notices of any other watches or warnings that may be issued.
