By  Landon Santini

The Little Hocking Water Association has a water main break in the Ireland Road area in Troy Township of Athens County. This boil advisory is only for Little Hocking Water customers, who are located in the Ireland Road area including Troy Township Road 176, 177, 181 and 182 as well as O'Neal Road.

After the repairs are made and water service is restored, it is recommended as a precaution to safeguard public health, that all water used for drinking, preparation of food, or washing of dishes and cookware be boiled for a minimum of three minutes prior to use. Boiling of water should continue until further notice.

Little Hocking Water personnel will be collecting water samples. The results of the sample testing will determine when the boil advisory is to be lifted.

UPDATE (November 8th, 2017)

The Boil Advisory has been canceled for the Little Hocking Water customers who are located along Ireland Road, Troy Township Roads 176, 177, 181 and 182 as well as O'Neal Road.

Following the repair of the water main along Ireland Road, water samples have been collected and analyzed for bacteria, as recommended by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA). The results of the samples have been determined as good.
