AAA Suggests having Car Battery Tested ahead of Cold Weather
Mike Hoshaw is the Vice President of Automotive Services at AAA East Central, he says that cars are born to run and letting them sit for long periods of time is setting them up to fail.
Even when your vehicle is sitting still and turned off, the battery is still powering components in the car, the clock in your car for instance still uses the battery when the car is shut off. Even this small accessory can drain down a battery over time. A running car uses the alternator to charge the battery.
AAA also says that the summer heat is damaging to the internal components of your battery and in the winter, the damage manifests in the form of a dead battery.
Battery testing can be done at any AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility.
